used VW GOLF

Volkswagen came up with a winning formula when they first developed the Golf in 1974, and it has come out on top as one of the most popular cars in the UK for decades. Currently in its 7th generation and with a more than 40 year pedigree it continues to set the standard in terms of style, comfort and safety. With so many models of VW Golf released over the years it might be tricky to narrow your options; we’ll take a look at some of the most popular on the used market to help you decide.

Popular VW Golf models

The original Golf has undergone several transformations over the years, and each one is a remarkable combination of style and substance. They are diverse enough to suit the needs of all kinds of drivers, including a larger estate format and a nifty fully electric version. You’ll find a great selection of used VW Golfs for sale on the SPOTiCAR website, each covered by our minimum 12-month warranty for your peace of mind.

The classic VW Golf

The original since the mid 70s, the classic VW Golf is one of the world’s favourite hatchbacks. The 2017 - 2020 model is one of our best sellers, giving you a fantastic car at a very reasonable price, though the 2013 - 2017 version is also well worth a look. Whether you prefer diesel or petrol engines, automatic or manual transmission, you’ll find a VW Golf that you love here at SPOTiCAR.

VW Golf Estate

The VW Golf Estate is a larger choice, making it the ideal family car that still has the iconic looks that the Golf range is known for. Despite its larger size it has similar fuel efficiency to the smaller editions. The eTSI version doesn’t add much to the performance or economy of the vehicle, so you may want to consider sticking to the manual model unless you know you prefer a car with automatic transmission. The entry level trim comes with 16 inch alloys, single zone climate control, automatic lights, adaptive cruise control and leather trim throughout the interior. The Style and R-Line trims give you some nice extras and a more refined look.

VW Golf Cabriolet

Delivering a comfortable driving experience in a relatively small package, the Golf Cabriolet is based on sixth generation mechanics with a high quality build. Unlike some convertibles, the VW Golf Cabriolet does not compromise on performance and the drive is still very refined, even at higher speeds with the roof folded away. This model offers a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines with the 123bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and the 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel being most popular because they strike a good balance between running costs and performance. There are three trim levels: S, SE and GT with the mid-range SE being especially good value in terms of cost and available extras.

VW e-Golf

This fully electric offering from VW is highly rated and has done very well in consumer and professional tests and produces no exhaust emissions which is great for the environmentally-conscious driver. Practical and reliable, the newer models pack a reasonable 125 mile range which makes it ideal for urban driving and shorter commutes, and it offers more torque than a regular Golf.
