used MG

Although MG cars aren’t commonly seen on the UK roads, they’re making a comeback thanks to their improved reliability and distinctive style. A heritage British brand, the MG range also includes a variety of models to meet drivers’ needs. So if you’re looking for something different from your used car our approved used MG’s from SPOTiCAR may be the perfect option.

Why buy a used MG?

Though today’s MG Motors is a world away from its British roots, the original manufacturing brand was established by innovator Willian Morris in 1924. Building its reputation for sporty models under General Manager Cecil Kimber, MG (standing for Morris Garages) had a factory based in Abingdon Oxford, where the company built vehicles until the 1980s.

Most famous for making coupes and sporty hatchbacks like the MG Midget, the formation of the MG Rover Group prompted a kickstart to production, with the launch of a modernised version of this classic design with the MG TF. Yet, when the group went into administration in 2005, this marked the end to British produced MGs, which manufacturing transferred to China, where it still remains today. Yet MG still maintains its reputation for sporty, good value cars and is now making leaps into hybrid and electric vehicles.

Which used MG should you buy?

There are a huge range of MG models available to suit different drivers’ needs. All with sleek looks and a sporty edge, modern MGs are also highly practical, comfortable to ride in and economical to run.

What should you look out for in a used MG?

Though MGs have had a history of being unreliable, improving the quality of manufacturing and build has been a focus for the carmaker in the last few years. Looking up the common issues with the specific model you want to buy is important before you book in a test drive, where you should listen for any noises and check the function of the brakes and gearbox as well as any technology. Plus, when you go for your appointment, be sure to check the service and MOT history for any mechanical issues or manufacturer recalls.
