used electric vans

Vans are some of the most practical and versatile vehicles on the UK used car market, and they are used for a range of commercial and domestic applications. As such, there are a huge variety of vans available with various specifications to meet a diverse range of needs. Whether you are transporting large volumes of goods or equipment for work reasons, or prefer the versatile carrying capacity that a van provides for your everyday domestic vehicle, there are plenty to choose from and though some will be better suited to your needs than others.

In the past, most vans contained either a petrol or diesel powered combustion engine though modern vans are increasingly being equipped with either fully electric or hybrid engines. This move makes driving a van much more economical in terms of fuel as you will be able to get a lot more mileage for your money. If you will be driving your approved used electric van over long distances then choosing an electric model will save you lots of money on fuel as well as tax, and will dramatically reduce the amount of emissions your journeys are responsible for - in fact, many modern electric vans can be considered zero emission vehicles which is great for the environment and helps improve localised air quality.

Popular Used Electric Vans

There is an increasing number of electric vans entering the used van market in the UK, and they are diverse and practical. These are some of the most popular second hand electric vans you will find here at Spoticar:

Peugeot Partner Electric - The Peugeot Partner is a popular van which has been available in petrol or diesel powered formats for some time. Recently, the maker has released a fully electric version in the UK, which is proving to be an incredibly popular mid sized van for a range of uses. This model is reliable and practical, but at the moment drivers must accept a slightly smaller than average fully electric range of just over 100 miles.

Vauxhall Vivaro-e - While the more common diesel version is manufactured in Luton, the electric variant - the Vivaro-e - is manufactured in France. Highly practical even for longer journeys, the Vivaro-e can be charged to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes, meaning you can drive further without having to charge the van’s batteries overnight. The Vivaro is one of the best selling vans in the UK, and is available in a huge range of configurable formats depending on the needs of the driver.

Renault Master ZE - On the larger end of the electric van scale is the Renault Master ZE. This robust and spacious vehicle has fantastic capacity and carrying ability, and can manage payloads of more than 1 tonne. As with other fully electric vans, the range is less than with smaller, lighter electric vehicles, but they are absolutely perfect for shorter range trips and routes which allow for recharging time.

History of electric vans

Vans have been in use in one form or another for decades and they are a mainstay of commercial operations with many van fleets present in the UK. The technology used in electric vans is identical to that found in electric cars, but it is usually scaled up to provide more power for hauling large loads. The additional power needed to operate large vans and move heavy loads often means that electric vans have a shorter range than electric cars, but this is something that is being worked on all the time, and electric vans are always improving in terms of performance and range, and so are rapidly becoming a highly popular and economical choice for fleet operators, sole traders, and private drivers who need to transport larger loads than a standard car can manage.
