If you’re looking to buy a second-hand car on a budget, many second-hand compact and city cars are available for a budget of around £15,000, including several premium models like the used Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Mercedes A Class and Audi A1.  

Certain second-hand road cars and saloons, notably German models including the Audi A3 and Mercedes C-Class, as well as prestige French models like the DS 5 or the Peugeot 508 could also be within your budget. 

In case you’re looking for something roomier, like a used MPV, or SUV for less than £15,000, then you will be spoilt for choice at this price point and can take your pick from the wide selection available - there are endless possibilities!

WHICH USED CAR SHOULD YOU CHOOSE FOR £15,000? 

In the city car category, a used Citroën C3 packed with accessories makes for a great city car and is easily within your reach on a £15,000 budget. For this price, you can get robustness, reliability and the latest on-board technologies, as is the case with either a used Vauxhall Corsa or used Ford Fiesta. 

Although rarer, you can also find used Peugeot 308 models for less than £15,000, while in the compact hatchback category you can take home a used Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus. All models in this category are excellent value for money. 

For a convertible around the £15,000 mark (although difficult to find), you can’t go wrong with a used Volkswagen Beetle, Mini or Fiat 500. There’s nothing like the thrill of your hair whipping in the wind while enjoying a nostalgic moment! Other choices for you in this category include the used Peugeot 308 CC or Mazda MX5

If you have your eye on a used SUV, you can find SUVs like the Vauxhall Mokka, Renault Captur or used Peugeot 2008 on the used market, and an entry-level model SUV from the prestigious German brand, the BMW X1 can sometimes be found for less than £15,000 and promises remarkable handling and exceptional comfort. 

If you want to choose something a bit more original, a used Volvo S60 could be just what you’re looking for and is an absolute bargain at £15,000! 

When only an MPV will do, consider the ever-popular used Citroën Picasso (now called the C4 SpaceTourer) or Vauxhall Zafira. For something more classic, the Renault Scénic or a second-hand VW Touran will fit the bill. 

With a budget of £15,000, you can usually find a selection of vans, should this be your requirement, without having to compromise on style, as is the case with a used Renault Kangoo, Citroën Berlingo or Vauxhall Combo.

You could also be able to afford some electric models, hybrid vehicles, or plug-in hybrid.
